Overview

Auroch Digital provided support for the PlayStation 5 port of VRising, during this time I supported the project in my role as Technical Director of the studio.

This included the initial technical assessment of the project, and highlighting some of the early risk areas and unknowns – Auroch supported input and UIUX changes, platform support, and optimisation efforts to reach performance targets. During the development, we worked closely with both Unity and the Client to solve issues with a console port of an early DOTS title.

Most of the changes that Auroch made were backported into the PC version of the game to ensure parity between titles.

Primary Duties

  • Initial technical assessment of the project, highlighting significant unknowns and project risks.
  • Forming the development team that would be responsible for the port, including hiring additional contractors to fill technical skill gaps we were missing within the team.
  • Travelling to visit the Client to ensure that the all parties agreed on the direction of the project.
  • Implemented processes to ensure that performance and iterative improvement was tracked and monitored effectively by all parties, to ensure that we would meet platform performance targets.
