Overview

I joined the small team working on The Colonists: Console Edition as a Game Programmer after finishing Mars Horizon to assist with the porting work towards the console platforms. Initially, I joined to assist with optimising the game for the Nintendo Switch, and afterwards I re-implemented and assisted with re-designing all of the UI screens in the game to make the game fit for a console audience.

Primary Duties

  • Investigation and resolution of memory leaks in the game, primarily when the title running on the Nintendo Switch.
  • Further optimisation and improvements to CPU and GPU timings to meet target platform requirements.
  • Platform investigation for an unannounced and unreleased target platform.
  • Total re-implementation of UGUI elements to improve performance and dynamic scalability of the game UI.
  • Assisting UIUX with their re-designs of the game UI, to ensure that it met console requirements and was suitable for gamepad.
