Overview
Auroch Digital ported SteamWorld Build to the Nintendo Switch, during this time I supported the project in my role as Technical Director of the studio.
This included the initial technical assessment of the project, supporting the team during the development of the port, and ensuring that Auroch and the core development team were in a position to continue to provide support to the client as DLC was released for the live game.
Primary Duties
- Initial technical assessment of the project, providing timeline estimates and establishing staff requirements to meet the Client’s deadlines.
- Forming the development team that would be responsible for the port, including hiring additional contractors to fill technical skill gaps we were missing within the team.
- Highlighting risk areas of the project to the development team to ensure that they were able to focus their efforts more quickly.
- Assisting in the investigation of complicated Addressables requirements, to ensure that Switch patch size requirements could be met – during this time I trained studio staff who were less familiar with Addressables to enable them to do the work.
- Ensuring deliverables for the Client were met, and that ongoing support of the live game was effective.
